About Chevening Scholarships and Fellowships
Every year the United Kingdom offers a few highly-coveted opportunities for Angola’s future leaders, decision-makers and opinion formers to study in the UK under the British Chevening scholarship scheme. These Scholarships are awarded on the basis of open competition.
The Scholarships are offered in over 100 countries. They enable talented graduates and young professionals who we identify as the potential leaders of tomorrow to gain skills which will benefit their countries, at the same time as becoming familiar with the UK.
Chevening Scholarships
Successful candidates fulfill the following criteria:- University graduates,
- High level English language (Level at 6.5 IELTS)
- With an already established career and an outstanding record of achievement or proven leadership potential.
- On completion of their studies, they will return to Angola to contribute to the country’s development by implementing the new skills and knowledge acquired in the United Kingdom.
Candidates must be able to show a high level of fluency in the English language in order to benefit from the scheme. Any discipline may be considered, but successful candidates tended to study in areas such as Human Rights; International Relations; Economic Management or Development Management. The usual course of study is a postgraduate Masters Degree involving 12 months’ study at a UK university.

Chevening Fellowships
The Chevening Fellowships Programme offers awards for study on short courses that focus on particular subjects. Fellowships are aimed at mid-career professionals in positions of leadership and influence who are active in the field of the fellowship subject.
The courses are designed to offer dynamic training and professional development opportunities in the UK. They consist of high-quality content, with contributions from leading academics and experts in the field. The British Government would like successful candidates as alumni, to be interested in maintaining an international policy dialogue on the fellowship subject with UK Embassies.
