Chevening Scholarships and Fellowships

24 years have passed since the Chevening Scholarship Programme was first introduced in Angola. Since then 52 Angolans have become part of this family of professionals who are contributing every day to positive changes all over the world. Today, we are concentrating our efforts on expanding this opportunity even further, so that more Angolans can benefit from a UK education, experience the unique culture and find new ways to solve old problems.

This was a very exciting year for the programme in Angola. From TV shows to radio interviews and newspaper articles, the benefits of the programme received wide coverage and the platform was also used to talk about the importance of higher education, its impact on post conflict economies and the positive contributions being made by Chevening Scholars.

In March this year, the British Embassy in partnership with Chevening alumni organised a conference to discuss the impact of scholarships and their relation to development. The conference also  started the process of creating a Chevening Alumni Association to better co-ordinate networking activities  and the sharing of professional, academic and cultural expertise and experience. In this way, the Alumni Association will help support a new generation of talented young leaders in their endeavours to help the country to respond positively  to new global challenges.
