You can apply for a visa up to three months in advance of the date you will travel. To avoid potential headaches, we recommend that you apply to the UKBA Visa Application Centre (VAC) as soon as possible within this three-month window.

The minimum recommended application period for a visa is 5 weeks. However, since many categories of visa, in particular certain student visas, take longer,we  strongly recommend that you take advantage of the three-month application window and apply now.
