Angola, Africa's largest oil producer, is one of the world's fastest changing countries. Vigorous economic growth (over 6% this year, over 8% next) is driving rapid social and infrastructure development. Angola is already the third-biggest economy in sub-Saharan Africa. There have also been important changes in the democratic system, in particular with the adoption of a new Constitution in early February.

Britain has a key role to play in supporting Angola through this dynamic process. The British and Angolan Governments work closely together on a range of issues of mutual interest. There is a very substantial British community in Angola, a large part of which is engaged in providing goods and services to Angola in many areas (as well as the oil and gas sector , in which British companies have been active for many years, these include agriculture, consumer goods, financial services, pharmaceuticals and many others).

Against this exciting background, it's a huge honour for me to represent Britain in Angola. My team and I are here to help and support, in any way we can, all those who are part of this great partnership: we look forward to hearing from and working with you.
